Now there is a unique possibility to gain deeper knowledge and understanding on the expanding concept of the framework tailored specifically for the Reinsurance Agreements. This session is useful for everyone working in reinsurance and insurance business, not only the lawyers working within reinsurance.

Our Keynote speakers
Helmut Heiss
a full professor of private law, comparative law and private international law at the University of Zurich since 2007. Previously, he held chairs in Germany (Greifswald and Mannheim) and had been an associate professor in Austria (Innsbruck). In 2019, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Liechtenstein. Helmut Heiss also practices insurance and reinsurance law as a lawyer in Zurich/Switzerland since 2011. He regularly acts as an expert in international insurance as well as reinsurance law disputes and also as an arbitrator.
Helmut Heiss works mainly in the areas of Swiss, German, Austrian, Liechtenstein, international and European insurance and reinsurance law, general contract law, private international and comparative law as well as Liechtenstein company, foundation and trust law. Helmut Heiss heads the global project group on the “Principles of Reinsurance Contract Law (PRICL)”. A first set of these Principles including Comments and Illustrations was published in 2019. Helmut Heiss also led the European project group on the “Principles of European Insurance Contract Law (PEICL)” (for details see https://www.ius.uzh.ch/de/staff/professorships/alphabetical/heiss/projects/peicl.html). As Chairman of this group, he has acted as an expert on European insurance contract law to the European Economic and Social Committee twice and advised the Judicial Committee of the European Parliament on this topic as well. Moreover, Helmut Heiss was a member of the (European) Commission Expert Group on European Insurance Contract Law (see https://commission.europa.eu/business-economy-euro/doing-business-eu/contract-rules/insurance-contracts/expert-group-european-insurance-contract-law_en). Neil Bennett
the contract wording specialist for the Asia PAC and European regions within Guy Carpenter. He joined Guy Carpenter in April 2018. Having started his career in 1986 as a Casualty Underwriting assistant in the London Market he has over 35 years of experience in re/insurance.
This has included time in Switzerland with Winterthur Re (Partner Re) and South Africa with Munich Re (Accident/Casualty department head) and AIG (Regional Underwriting manager) before moving into broking in 2007 with Aon where he had responsibility for the production of all Treaty documentation for South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa including liaising, where necessary with their London office. He was also responsible for reinsurance training, both internally and externally for clients, which formed an important part of his function.
He is a certified member of the CII and represents GC on the IUA Clauses Sub Committee and REWEF.
Lari Kuitunen
Reinsurance Manager at If P&C, the largest pan-Nordic insurer covering Nordic risks on a global scale. Lari has 15 years of experience in reinsurance, placing reinsurance solutions, negotiating contracts and creating solutions to cover complex risks.
Lari splits his time between work and family, and considers reinsurance not only a job but also a hobby and passion, contributing to legal development of the sector as an advisory group member in the Principles of Reinsurance Contract Law Project, a global endeavor to create private codification of law for the conduct of reinsurance business.
Lari has Master of Laws degree from University of Helsinki, specializing in reinsurance law, as well as Master of Social Sciences in Economics, also from University of Helsinki.
