Vakuutusetsivän maailmankuva - hyviksiä vai pahiksia? SVY:n jäsentilaisuus 12.12.2024
Mika Laiso, Fennian erikoistarkastuksen päällikkö, kertoi vakuutusetsivän maailmankuvasta konkreettisin esimerkein. Tilaisuudessa käytiin läpi mm. henkilövahinkojen tutkintaa, vakuutusyhtiöihin kohdistuvan rikollisuuden erilaisia ilmiöitä ja trendejä sekä sitä, kuinka globaalit ilmiöt heijastuvat rikollisuuteen ja sen torjuntaan.

Suomen Vakuutusyhdistyksen lokakuun jäsentilaisuudessa Marko Ahokas, VP Sales, Mavera AB:stä kertoi, "Kuinka tekoäly muuttaa pelisääntöjä henkilövahinkojen käsittelyssä".
Tekoäly muuttaa perusteellisesti lähes kaiken yhteiskunnassamme. Generatiivinen tekoäly kehittyy edelleen nopeaa vauhtia, ja me näemme sen vaikuttavan merkittävästi mm. henkilövahinkojen korvaamiseen, eli tulevaisuuden menettelytapoihin korvausten käsittelyssä. Haluatko pysyä teknologisen muutoksen etulinjassa ja oppia ymmärtämään tekoälyn käyttöä korvausprosessissa? Seminaarissa annoimme esimerkkejä siitä, kuinka toimiala on muuttumassa ja näytimme keinoja prosessiesi parantamiseen.

Yhteistyötilaisuus Suomen vakuutuslakimiesten yhdistyksen kanssa 11.9.2024: Introducing Principles of Reinsurance Contract Law (PRICL) – the new framework for Reinsurance agreements
In this seminar professor Helmut Heiss taught us how the PRICL cocktail was prepared and how to enjoy it - on ex or sip by sip. The package of professor Heiss’s presentation was intriguing and innovative - yet super informative.
Next Lari Kuitunen shared the view of an insurance company, aka the reinsurance buyers perspective on PRICL, and why, at least for now, he has chosen (with great results) the sip by sip approach.
Last but not least Neil Bennett told us how the reinsurance market has evolved after 9/11 (a timely topic noting that the event was held on the anniversary) and what kind of wording related problems and issues the reinsurance market has faced in recent years. He also shared his view on PRICL, and how it can be seen as a part of the solution by bringing transparency and legal certainty to reinsurance contracts.
Our Keynote speakers
Helmut Heiss
a full professor of private law, comparative law and private international law at the University of Zurich since 2007. Previously, he held chairs in Germany (Greifswald and Mannheim) and had been an associate professor in Austria (Innsbruck). In 2019, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Liechtenstein. Helmut Heiss also practices insurance and reinsurance law as a lawyer in Zurich/Switzerland since 2011. He regularly acts as an expert in international insurance as well as reinsurance law disputes and also as an arbitrator.
Helmut Heiss works mainly in the areas of Swiss, German, Austrian, Liechtenstein, international and European insurance and reinsurance law, general contract law, private international and comparative law as well as Liechtenstein company, foundation and trust law. Helmut Heiss heads the global project group on the “Principles of Reinsurance Contract Law (PRICL)”. A first set of these Principles including Comments and Illustrations was published in 2019. Helmut Heiss also led the European project group on the “Principles of European Insurance Contract Law (PEICL)” (for details see https://www.ius.uzh.ch/de/staff/professorships/alphabetical/heiss/projects/peicl.html). As Chairman of this group, he has acted as an expert on European insurance contract law to the European Economic and Social Committee twice and advised the Judicial Committee of the European Parliament on this topic as well. Moreover, Helmut Heiss was a member of the (European) Commission Expert Group on European Insurance Contract Law (see https://commission.europa.eu/business-economy-euro/doing-business-eu/contract-rules/insurance-contracts/expert-group-european-insurance-contract-law_en). Neil Bennett
the contract wording specialist for the Asia PAC and European regions within Guy Carpenter. He joined Guy Carpenter in April 2018. Having started his career in 1986 as a Casualty Underwriting assistant in the London Market he has over 35 years of experience in re/insurance.
This has included time in Switzerland with Winterthur Re (Partner Re) and South Africa with Munich Re (Accident/Casualty department head) and AIG (Regional Underwriting manager) before moving into broking in 2007 with Aon where he had responsibility for the production of all Treaty documentation for South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa including liaising, where necessary with their London office. He was also responsible for reinsurance training, both internally and externally for clients, which formed an important part of his function.
He is a certified member of the CII and represents GC on the IUA Clauses Sub Committee and REWEF.
Lari Kuitunen
Reinsurance Manager at If P&C, the largest pan-Nordic insurer covering Nordic risks on a global scale. Lari has 15 years of experience in reinsurance, placing reinsurance solutions, negotiating contracts and creating solutions to cover complex risks.
Lari splits his time between work and family, and considers reinsurance not only a job but also a hobby and passion, contributing to legal development of the sector as an advisory group member in the Principles of Reinsurance Contract Law Project, a global endeavor to create private codification of law for the conduct of reinsurance business.
Lari has Master of Laws degree from University of Helsinki, specializing in reinsurance law, as well as Master of Social Sciences in Economics, also from University of Helsinki.
Suomen ja Ruotsin Vakuutusyhdistysten yhteinen turvallisuusaiheinen seminaari 26.4.2024
Tilaisuudessa vertailtiin Suomen ja Ruotsin turvallisuuteen ja turvallisuusajatteluun vaikuttaneita tekijöitä ja haasteisiin löydettyjä ratkaisuja. Tarkastelimme myös tulevaisuutta, jossa Suomi ja Ruotsi jälleen kerran kohtaavat useimmat riskit ja vaarat yhdessä sekä ystävinä että liittolaisina.
Tilaisuus oli hybriditilaisuus, joka toteutettiin Suomessa Suomen vakuutusyhdistyksen jäsenille aamupalaseminaarina Ruoholahdessa, ja Ruotsissa Ruotsin vakuutusyhdistyksen jäsenille striimin välityksellä.
Suomen näkökulmasta aihetta avasi Juha-Antero Puistola, kansanvälisen yhteistyön koordinaattori Puolustusvoimien tutkimuslaitoksella. Hänellä on pitkä työhistoria Suomen puolustusvoimissa strategian, turvallisuuspolitiikan, kansainvälisen yhteistyön ja ennakoinnin saralla. Puistola on myös kirjoittanut useita turvallisuuteen liittyviä tietokirjoja, viimeisimpänä Kansalaisen varautumisopas (2023).
Ruotsin näkökulmasta aihetta kommentoi Tomas Ries, Dosentti, yliopistonlehtori (apulaisprofessori Yhdysvalloissa) turvallisuuspolitiikan ja strategian alalla Puolustuskorkeakoulussa Tukholmassa, Ruotsissa. Tohtori Ries on työskennellyt turvallisuuspolitiikan parissa vuodesta 1979 lähtien ja on kansainvälisesti tunnettu tutkija.
Yritysten riskienhallinta aiheena SVY:n vuosikokousesitelmässä 27.3.2024
Vuosikokousesitelmän pitivät Mikko Koskensyrjä, Leena Kuhanen ja Pasi Kämppi aiheenaan "Yritysten riskienhallinta". Riskienhallinta nähdään tänä päivänä merkittävänä kilpailukeinona muuttuvassa maailmassa yrityksen koosta tai toimialasta riippumatta. Hyvällä riskienhallinnalla saavutetaankin kilpailuetua ja imagohyötyjä markkinoilla. Esitelmä perustui vuonna 2023 julkaistuun teokseen Yrityksen riskienhallinta.
